Andrew Parker the Earthman Concept Art
I wanted to give Marsha some more friends and family to adventure with. Through several random sketches and workshopping I came to create a brother for Marsha who similarly was born on Earth and raised on Mars. He’s a little less easy going and more by the book. Additionally, he is older than Marsha and remembers his time on earth a bit more. That’s kind of the distinction there is that Andrew refers to himself as Terran rather than Martian, (this leads many people within the universe who know Andrew to call him the “Earthman”, which is a nod to DCs Adam Strange). Whereas Marsha mostly grew up on Mars and that’s the only home she’s really ever known.
I drew a lot of initial concepts of what her uniform would look like on a guy. This eventually came to be her brother Andrew. He is a little more serious, less adventurous, but accompanies her on her adventures. His skill set is more combat focused. But he is fiercely protective of his sister.
Some early pictures of the siblings in action.
Concept for Marsha, but also what Andrew would look like in heavier combat, perhaps before joining Marsha fulltime.
More early concept of Andrew. I like the idea he has a hardlight sword. Not necessarily a lightsaber, it’s not like superhot and will melt through anything. More like a light bridge from Halo, but in sword form.
Just a rough sketch. Sort of bringing everything into line a little bit more. I was using some poses worked on by artist Dan Mora for this.
Below is just some more sketches of Andrew as I formulated how I wanted him to look. Again, a lot of these poses are from other artists I like, specifically with drawings of Adam Strange.
Another one after the style of Jason Fabok. Again…I don’t know if his style fits the universe I’m trying to cook up here. But I like his style and detail and wanted to give it a try.
Here is the finalized version of Andrew. Again, I’m very satisfied with the costume, design, pose and characteristics of Andrew.
